2013 texas AM alabama preview hype video 570x345 Tide look for revenge against Aggies

The most anticipated game of the early season takes place Saturday when No. 1 Alabama travels to play No. 6 Texas A&M in a matchup of two SEC powers, and a pair of teams that are expected to challenge for the national championship.

Nick Saban and his Tide will have revenge on their minds after losing to the Aggies last November, while Texas A&M will be looking to stun the college world again and make it two in a row over their conference rivals.

Key to the matchup will be the play of Aggies quarterback Johnny Manziel, who gained national attention in last year’s matchup, on his way to becoming the first freshman ever to win the Heisman Trophy.

Manziel has been heavily criticized for his off-the-field antics and taunting of opponents, and was suspended for the first half of the opening game, but no one can deny the impact he has had on the field, passing for 520 yards and six touchdowns in just a game and a half. He is the most electrifying personality in college sports and a polarizing figure, but a second win over the Tide this weekend would enhance and ever-growing legacy even more.

Standing in his way, however, is an Alabama defense considered the best around and a defense that will come into the game with a chip on its shoulder after Manziel lit them up on the ground last season. Home-field advantage may be enough to lift the Aggies, but you know Saban’s been waiting on this one, and it’s hard to see the best coach in college football and the No. 1 team in college football not finding a way to win.

In a second all-top-25 matchup Saturday, No. 16 UCLA travels to No. 23 Nebraska, while No. 2 Oregon hosts Tennessee, where the Ducks will look to continue their lightning fast start to the season.

In other key matchups this weekend, No. 5 Stanford travels to play Army, No. 4 Ohio State is at Cal, Kent State is at No. 8 LSU, No. 7 Louisville is at Kentucky, and No. 21 Notre Dame will look to bounce back from last weekend’s loss to Michigan against in-state rival Purdue in a Saturday night matchup on ABC.
