#73 Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida

 HGT: 6-3 WGT: 297

In 3 seasons as a Florida Gator, Sharrif Floyd appeared in 36 games with 26 starts. Floyd racked up 115 career tackles, 26 TFL, 4.5 sacks, 1 pass breakup, three blocked field goals and a forced fumble. According to University of Florida’s Sports Information Department, Floyd’s three career kick/punt blocks is tied for fifth in school history. Floyd’s solid showing at the NFL Scouting Combine in February, has left plenty of scouts “buzzing” about the former Gator.

PROS:

Very Good all around athleticism. Very explosive first step. Gets a great jump on the snap count. Good lateral agility and balance, is able to work through bodies on the ground. Shows the ability to deliver a blow with his hands and consistently displays good all around hand placement. Shows good hand violence when swiping away the hands of blockers. Has a great motor and plays hard. Seems like late in games he is still chasing and pursuing, his effort never drops off, which is a testament to his conditioning. Really good short area closing speed on ball carriers. Excels at line movements and stunts by using his quickness and hands. Floyd is a very good pass rusher with an above average skill-set of pass-rush moves. Lines up as a 3-technique and 5-technique. Does a great job of maintaining half-man leverage. When lined up as the 3-tech, he use quick hands to gain control and a quick swim to beat blockers. Is most effective vs. the run when he uses quickness and is able to shoot gaps and get up field by flipping his hips to get skinny and then get vertical. Is able to work through slide pass-protection by flipping his hips and ricocheting off of blockers. When lined up at the 5-tech, shows he is most effective when uses a quick punch and a fast escape move, often uses the dip and rip to turn the corner on offensive tackles. Shows the ability to string out plays to the sideline. Seems to have natural instincts and great feel for his position, whether at the 5 or the 3. Does a good job of getting his hands up in the vision line of the quarterback.

HGT: 6-3 WGT: 320

The Curious case of Tonio Celotto has seen the mammoth Defensive Tackle, take a very unconventional path to the point in which he has made it to. As a true freshman and sophomore, he was a key player at the University of Oregon, then vanished for 2 years and resurfaced in a small town in Northern California, in Humboldt County. Arcata is the location of California’s last public Division II school, Humboldt State University. The lesser traveled road Celotto has taken, has proved to still show flashes of the talent that once earned him significant playing time at BCS powerhouse, Oregon.

PROS:

Has good size. Displays very good power. Shows an elite 1st step. Has good short area quickness. Maintains good pad level. Plays hard, has the motor you love to see out of a guy his size. On film, was very difficult to block 1- on-1, (wins in 1-on-1 situations). Demands a double team. Does a good job of splitting and defeating the double team. Shows good change of direction when in pursuit of the ball carrier/ quarterback. Strikes with violent hands. Shows the ability to strike and lockout on blocks. Uses good hand strike, athleticism and knee bend when defeating the cut block. Creates a pass with his ability to bull and push the pocket. Has good natural instincts, identifies screens and draws, very aware of when/where the ball is thrown. On film, plays with great emotion and shows a nasty streak. Has played Nose Tackle and 3 Technique.

Deon Googins Syracuse 300x246 #13 Deon Goggins, DE, Syracuse#13 Deon Goggins, DE/DT Syracuse

Deon Goggins is an intriguing prospect whose journey to the this point has been anything but smooth. Goggins came to Syracuse as a Junior College transfer for the 2010 season, but redshirted. Goggins started all 13 games in 2012 and was a key part of a defense that helped Syracuse win 5 out of it’s last 6 games including a convincing win over West Virginia in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl. Goggins finished his senior campaign 6th on the team in tackles with 53tkls; 8.5tfls; 1sack and 2 quarterback hurries.

 PROS:

Very powerful and athletic defensive lineman, that has not only shown versatility, but has had success despite playing out of position. Has played both Defensive Tackle, End and even OLB. Has very good lateral agility and plays explosive. Shows good 1st step off the ball. Plays with a great motor, and displays great effort, running down field to make plays. Uses his quickness to beat blocks and get up field when offensive lineman try to solo block him. Does a decent job of striking, locking out and shedding blocks. Plays with good pad level and gets push on blockers to push the pocket. Understands leverage. When asked to play DE, does a good job of setting the edge. #9 Louis Nix III (Junior), DT Notre Dame

6 6491042 #9 Louis Nix III (Junior), DT Notre DameLouis Nix III (Junior), DT Notre Dame

HGT: 6-3 WGT: 326

There are normally 1-2 Special players in a programs every year, but it almost seems that this year’s Notre Dame team has a special player in each position group and Defensive Line is no exception. Junior Defensive Tackle Louis Nix has garnished a lot of attention from not only opposing offenses but also from a ton of NFL teams. The things that Nix brings to a defense can not be tracked statically, but once you turn on the film you see the impact Nix makes through out the course of a game.

 PROS:

Nix has good size (6-3, 326) and plays with a great motor for a guy of his size and shows relentless effort in his pursuit to the ball. Nix possesses a quick first step which makes it hard for offensive linemen to gain ground on him. Nix does a great job delivering a violent blow with his hands. In one-on-one situations, Nix has proved to be virtually unblock-able. Nix does a good job taking on and splitting the double team. When Zone comes to him, Nix does a good job attacking his visual key’s up-field shoulder, getting push and penetration, which knocks the running back off his path. Although he is not a great pass rusher, because of his quick 1st step and hands, Nix generates a serviceable pass-rush that pushes the pocket.

#47 Ezekiel Ansah, DE, BYU

1001910 #47 Ezekiel Ansah, DE, BYU#47 Ezekiel Ansah, DE BYU

HGT: 6-5 WGT: 270

Ezekiel Ansah, is a very intriguing prospect with freakish athleticism and a prototypical frame, that did not start playing football until 2010. Ansah initially ran track at BYU and posted times of 10.9 in the 100 meter and 21.9 in the 200 meter, which are impressive for an athlete his size. Just last spring his coaches questioned if concepts of scheme and technique were clicking for him, but through fall camp and the 2012 season, Ansah has shown it has not only clicked, but it is rolling! Ansah is now a guy that coaches from opposing teams circle on scouting reports and stress the importance of knowing where Ansah lines up every snap.

 PROS:

Has the size, speed and over-all athleticism that you would look for in a top 10 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. Shows a good 1st step and excellent agility. Plays with good pad level for a guy his size. Ansah plays with good overall strength most of the time. He has really long arms and uses his upper body strength to deliver a solid blow on blockers. Ansah shows the ability to create separation and disengage off of blocks really well. Very versatile, in that he takes snaps lined up at DE, DT and OLB and is productive from all of those positions. On film Ansah is relentless in his pursuit of running down Quarterbacks and running backs in space. Does a great job of batting down balls at the line of scrimmage. For a guy that has only played football for 2 years, seems to have really good natural instincts.
