#2 Cody Hoffman (Junior), WR BYU

Cody Hoffman BYU #2 Cody Hoffman (Junior), WR BYU#2 Cody Hoffman (Junior), WR BYU

HGT: 6-3 WGT: 215

Cody Hoffman has had a phenomenal 2nd half to his junior campaign. Through the 1st six games of the season Hoffman had a pedestrian 31 receptions for 432 yards and 2 touchdowns. Hoffman, over the next 6 weeks would haul in 59 balls for 702 yards and 9 touchdowns. Hoffman’s performance vs New Mexico State, where he caught 12 balls for 182 yards and 5 touchdowns (BYU record), garnished him nationally attention and lead me to turn on more film of him. Hoffman finishes the regular season has 90 receptions for 1,134 yards and 11 touchdowns.

PROS:

Hoffman has good size with long arms and big hands. Plays with very good body control, which allows him to use his body in a variety of ways to get open. Is a crisp route-runner and shows savvy in adjusting routes. Does a good job catching the ball with his hands and away from his body. Does a good job in settling down to find the openings in zone coverage. Hoffman is fearless when it comes to catching the ball in traffic. Shows good footwork on the sideline to haul in balls with feet in bounds. Does a good job of competing for the ball when it is in the air. Often makes tough catches. Fights for the tough yards after the catch. Is a big time possession receiver, when BYU needs a play they will often isolate him to gain the advantage.
